Pokemon TCG Pocket: First Look at New Expansion, Space-Time Smackdown

Pokemon TCG Pocket continues to captivate fans with its innovative expansions, and the highly anticipated Space-Time Smackdown set is no exception. Speculation had initially centered around the Johto Region as the expansion’s theme, but official confirmation from Pokémon TCG Pocket’s X (Twitter) account has revealed an exciting twist–this set will spotlight the beloved Sinnoh Region.

With its dynamic blend of nostalgia and fresh gameplay possibilities, Space-Time Smackdown promises to redefine the digital card-collecting experience. Mark your calendars, as the expansion launches on January 29, 2025, with trade features rolling out just a day earlier on January 28.

According to Pokemon.com, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion boasts over 140 cards, including thrilling Pokemon EX cards, new Trainer cards, and stunning immersive designs.

While only a handful of cards have been officially revealed, much of the set remains under wraps. It’s reasonable to expect that the Sinnoh Region starter evolution lines will be included, much like the Genetic Apex set for Kanto. Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup will likely feature powerful EX versions of their fully evolved forms, bringing even more excitement to the expansion.

Here is the full list of Pokémon and cards seen in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion trailer above:

  • Dialga EX
  • Palkia EX
  • Chimchar
  • Piplup
  • Turtwig
  • Leafeon
  • Pachirisu EX
  • Honchkrow
  • Murkrow
  • Cynthia (Supporter card)
  • Cresselia
  • Gible

The stars of the set are the iconic space-time Pokémon, Dialga EX and Palkia EX.

Dialga, a Steel-type legendary, boasts the abilities Metallic Turbo and Heavy Impact. Metallic Turbo allows the player to take two energy from their Energy Zone and attach them to one of their Benched Pokémon.

Palkia, a Water-type legendary, comes with the abilities Slash and Dimensional Storm. Dimensional Storm lets Palkia discard three energy to deal 150 damage, while also inflicting 20 damage to each of the opponent’s Benched Pokémon.

As noted earlier, Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup will make their debut on January 29th. While each of the three starters comes with relatively simple abilities, their true potential won’t be revealed until the details of their evolved forms are released.

With its focus on the Sinnoh Region and the promise of new, engaging features, Space-Time Smackdown is set to deliver an exciting new chapter for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer to the game, this expansion offers something for everyone, making it a must-play when it drops later this month. Get ready to dive in and explore the rich world of Sinnoh like never before!
